Making a commitment to Truth and Reconciliation!

Learn about how you can be a part of co-creating our Reconciliation strategy.

Our vision as an organization is to be a catalyst for a resilient and sustainable society that values responsibility, integrity, and inclusivity for our employees, our communities, and Canada as a whole.

Through the first phase of our Reconciliation journey, we’ve forged a partnership to collaborate and invest in the advancement of Indigenous peoples. Our goal is to create endless opportunities for sustainable growth and much needed healing.

“This journey we’re on is incredibly important and I believe it’s a spark that can ignite the behavioral changes, and the learning and unlearning needed to build true allyship with Indigenous peoples in our communities across Canada,” says Rob Wesseling, President and CEO. “We know that much work still needs to be done.”

In Phase I, we:
1. Started our learning and unlearning journey by hosting various education events with over 2,000 participants across the organization!
2. Made a donation to the Dechinta Centre for Research and Learning that helped pay for 10 students to learn on their homelands for free this summer!
3. Finalized our Truth and Reconciliation Commitment Statement and Guiding Principles, and Indigenous Engagement Plan.

And with that, we begin Phase II!

In this phase, we’re:
1. Continuing our Sharing Circles, Knowledge sharing, and Indigenous Cultural Learning sessions - a series of educational sessions hosted by various Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and Indigenous community members and covering various topics to help us learn more about Indigenous culture. We encourage all employees to attend at least one session and join us in co-creating the Reconciliation strategy. Sign up for a session today.
2. Launching an Indigenous employee resource group (ERG)! To help us get started, the IDEA team is looking for employees that identify as Indigenous to participate in a focus group the week of May 8 to help shape this initiative. If you would like to participate, fill out this form.
3. Prioritizing elements of the Truth and Reconciliation Commissions (TRCs) Call #92 Business Reconciliation to feed into our Reconciliation strategy.
